The Connecticut Bar Association dedicated the September/October 2026 issue of CT Lawyer to access to justice and the attorneys working to close the gap for people who can’t afford legal help.
Paula and Rob Elfont of Guendelsberger Law Offices were two of just 31 volunteer attorneys recognized for giving more than 10 hours to CBA pro bono programs during the 2025–2026 bar year. Paula is also featured in the issue’s Volunteer Spotlight.

Bringing free legal help to New Milford
Last year, Paula launched the CBA’s Lawyers in Libraries program at the New Milford Public Library. Since then, more than 50 local residents have met one-on-one with a volunteer attorney for free guidance on a wide range of legal questions. Paula hopes to reach even more community members this year and to open another location in Litchfield County.
Serving beyond the office
Paula is heading into her third year judging first-round mock trial competitions in Danbury, and Rob has judged the finals. Paula also volunteers with the Connecticut Secretary of the State’s Non-Partisan Election Support Team during primaries and general elections.
